A leading value-based oncology network operating 70+ locations, across four states, has the stated mission to focus on delivering state-of-the-art-care and healing. For said cancer center, delivering exceptional outcomes depends on a complete understanding of each patient’s often fragmented health history.

“In oncology, patients may have severe side effects to any course of treatment. We often need labs or scans right away to make a safe, informed decision,” explains a senior operations team member. This urgency traditionally required a large, in-house team tasked with requesting, interpreting, and synthesizing hundreds of pages of records per patient.

The Challenge: Incomplete Solutions, High Costs

Even at the forefront of innovation, the customer’s options for health information management were limited:

• Outsourced HIM vendors took days or weeks to retrieve records, dumping hundreds of pages on clinical teams to review manually.
• Health Information Exchanges (HIEs) offered faster access—but only for partial data.

With each new patient requiring roughly 40 minutes of prep time and up to 5 days for full record retrieval, the cancer center maintained a team of 65 FTEs dedicated solely to medical records.

The Solution: Fully-Managed Health Data from Predoc

Predoc brought a fundamentally different approach: a fully-managed, AI health information service that not only retrieves comprehensive records faster, but also organizes, indexes, and summarizes patient data in custom “Facesheets”—tailored to each specialty’s most relevant data.

After a successful pilot, which demonstrated the efficiency and efficacy of Predoc's retrieval, the team worked to fully integrate, sending indexed patient data back into the network's EHR. After conducting new patient intake, record requests are automatically transmitted to Predoc through Predoc's API integration, which kicks off the Predoc process. Once received, unified, and indexed into clinically-relevant catgories, records are safely and securely transmitted back to the network's EHR. Onsite staff can access the results without ever having to leave their native EHR.
