A leading value-based oncology network operating 70+ locations, across four states, has the stated mission to focus on delivering state-of-the-art-care and healing. For a value-based oncology practice, both clinical and financial performance depend on the same thing: having the complete patient record, organized and ready, before the first appointment.
“In oncology, patients may have severe side effects to any course of treatment. We often need labs or scans right away to make a safe, informed decision,” explained a senior operations team member. This urgency traditionally required a large, in-house team tasked with requesting, interpreting, and synthesizing hundreds of pages of records per patient.
There is no magic API in healthcare, and digitally available sources do not fully solve the problem. Health Information Exchanges offer real-time data but are incomplete, and they do not display prior consult notes, imaging, and pathology in the structure physicians actually want. Manual record retrieval remained the only way to assemble the full record set for a new oncology patient, requiring human labor, repeated faxes, and phone calls over days or weeks, and creating long delays in time-to-first-appointment and treatment planning.
Each new patient required roughly 40 minutes of prep time and up to 5 days for full record retrieval, and the network maintained a team of 65 FTEs dedicated solely to medical records.
Predoc brought a fundamentally different approach: a fully-managed, AI-native service that retrieves comprehensive records and then organizes, indexes, and curates patient data into queriable, noramlized data.
“I’ve never seen anything that matches the quality of Predoc. One of the cofounders comes from the medical field; they really understand what we’re up against.”
When 95%+ of records come back structured into consult notes, imaging, and pathology, clinicians can build a treatment plan from the full picture rather than a partial one. Complete prior imaging and pathology in hand can also reduce the need to re-order expensive or invasive tests that were already performed elsewhere.
With prep time under 10 minutes and the records function fully managed, clinicians, NPs, and PAs spend their time delivering care rather than assembling charts, which lets licensed staff practice at the top of their license. Replacing a 65-person in-house records operation with a managed service converts a large fixed labor cost into predictable savings of roughly $2M per year.
For a value-based network, complete and structured data delivered before the visit supports a faster time-to-first-appointment and earlier treatment planning, which is where clinical quality and value-based performance meet.
